About Nepal
Nepal is known worldwide for the majestic Himalayas, but this diverse country has so much more to offer than just mountains. From the historic Kathmandu Valley, brimming with UNESCO World Heritage sites, to the serene lakes and hills of Pokhara, Nepal offers a rich blend of culture, nature and adventure. In the south lies the Terai, a tropical lowland region with national parks where you can spot impressive wildlife. Whether you’re seeking spiritual tranquillity, vibrant traditions or unspoilt landscapes, Nepal’s diversity will surprise every traveller.
If there’s one thing that makes Nepal a unique travel destination, it’s the sheer variety of options on offer. Whether you’re dreaming of a challenging trek in the Himalayas, a cultural tour of ancient temples, or an adventurous safari in unspoilt nature reserves – you’ll find it all with us. We offer classic treks, complete tours, combinations of both, as well as family holidays, cultural tours, nature trips and special off-the-beaten-track routes for those looking for something truly different. Because we tailor everything to your needs, you can perfectly combine different elements to create a trip that suits you perfectly.
For those who love hiking and adventure, Nepal is a true paradise. Treks come in all shapes and sizes – from short, cultural walks through traditional villages to challenging multi-week expeditions in remote mountainous regions. You can choose whether you prefer a trek focused on nature, staying overnight in simple teahouses, or would rather discover the cultural side of Nepal, with visits to monasteries and villages where time seems to stand still. For those seeking pure wilderness, there are tent treks in remote regions such as Dolpo or the western section of the Great Himalaya Trail. Prefer something more accessible? Then there are stunning routes in the popular regions of Annapurna, Langtang or Everest.
Whichever trek you choose, you’ll always be accompanied by an experienced local guide who not only ensures your safety but also shares the stories, customs and hidden gems of the area. This turns every trek into a meaningful experience, far off the beaten track.
The national parks in southern Nepal offer a fascinating glimpse into the country’s rich biodiversity. Chitwan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is renowned for its one-horned rhinos, Bengal tigers and safari tours on foot, by jeep or by canoe. In Bardia National Park, a lesser-visited paradise, you can spot tigers in their natural habitat and enjoy an unspoilt jungle experience. Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve is a paradise for birdwatchers, with over 400 species of migratory birds and a unique chance to see the endangered water buffalo. SuklaPhanta National Park, with its vast grasslands, is home to the world’s largest herds of swamp deer and offers a secluded and serene experience. Each park has its own unique ecosystem and adventure, making the Terai a must-visit region for nature lovers and adventurers.
During our trips in Nepal, you’ll stay in carefully selected accommodation that combines comfort with local charm. We opt for small-scale hotels and guesthouses, where personal service and authenticity are key. For a unique experience, you can enjoy charming boutique hotels, often situated in idyllic locations, or relax in comfortable hotels with a swimming pool – ideal for unwinding after a strenuous trek. During treks, you will stay in traditional teahouses or community lodges, where you can immerse yourself in the local culture and enjoy the hospitality of Nepal’s mountain communities. For those seeking a more personal experience, we offer private and community homestays, where you can share in the daily routines of hospitable families. This variety of accommodation ensures that every night is just as special as the day.

-
Visas & entry requirements
A tourist visa is required for all visitors from the Netherlands and Belgium. You can arrange this online via an e-Visa or apply for it on arrival in Kathmandu. Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months to avoid any issues at the border.
-
Best Time to Visit & Climate
The best time to visit Nepal depends on what you want to experience. Autumn, from September to November, is known for its clear skies and is ideal for trekking. In spring, from February to April, the valleys are in bloom and the weather is mild. The monsoon season, from June to August, brings plenty of rain but ensures lush green landscapes. In winter, from December to February, it is colder, especially in the mountains, but it is quieter and less crowded on popular routes.
-
Health & Vaccinations
It is important to get vaccinated before travelling to Nepal. Recommended vaccinations include DTP, hepatitis A and B, Japanese encephalitis and typhoid. Drink only bottled or filtered water and take a small first-aid kit with you containing basic essentials. This will ensure you are well prepared for any minor ailments during your trip.
-
Safety & Travel Advice
Nepal is generally a safe destination, but be vigilant in crowded areas and watch out for traffic. Follow the local rules in national parks and on trekking routes, and check for the latest safety advice in earthquake-prone areas.
-
Money & Payments
The Nepalese rupee (NPR) is the local currency. Cash is useful for small payments and at local markets, whilst large hotels and some restaurants also accept credit cards. Outside the major cities, the use of debit cards is limited. You cannot obtain NPR from a bank in Belgium or the Netherlands, but you can exchange money upon arrival in Kathmandu, at the airport or near your hotel.
-
Transport & Logistics
On our tours, you will usually travel in a private car with a driver. This is safe and also gives you some flexibility during the often long journeys. Domestic flights are efficient for longer distances, such as from Kathmandu to Pokhara, or are necessary, for example to Lukla. Tourist buses and minibuses connect towns and villages, although comfort levels can vary greatly. Taxis are affordable, but agree on a price in advance.
-
Accommodation
Accommodation in Nepal ranges from budget guesthouses to luxury hotels in cities and tourist areas. During treks, lodges are often simple but charming and cosy. In the high season, particularly in autumn and spring, it is advisable to book accommodation in advance.
-
Meals & Drinks
Nepalese cuisine is rich and varied. Local dishes such as dal bhat, momo and thukpa are highly recommended. To ensure your meal is safe, it is best to choose busy restaurants or stay with host families. Drink only bottled water and avoid ice that does not come from a reliable source.
-
Communication & Internet
Communications in Nepal are well organised in cities and tourist areas. SIM cards are readily available from Nepal Telecom and Ncell, and Wi-Fi is available in hotels, cafés and many lodges. However, coverage may be limited in remote areas and high mountains.
-
Language & Culture
The official language is Nepali, but English is widely spoken in tourist areas. It is important to respect local customs. In temples and monasteries, it is customary to take off your shoes and wear modest clothing. Always ask permission before taking photographs of people.
-
Luggage & Equipment
When packing, it’s a good idea to bring light clothing for the cities and warm layers for the mountains. Sturdy walking boots are essential for trekking routes, along with a rucksack, sleeping bag, water bottle, sun cream and sunglasses.
-
Activities & Highlights
Nepal offers a wide range of activities and attractions. Trekking routes such as the Mardi Himal, Pikey Peak and Poon Hill with Muldai Peak offer spectacular views and a unique cultural experience. National parks such as Chitwan and Bardia are perfect for safaris and spotting wildlife such as tigers, rhinos and elephants. For adventure seekers, there are opportunities to go paragliding in Pokhara, rafting on the Trisuli River or hiking to impressive waterfalls and caves.
